About Us

Desiree Michel, Wedding Consultant & Event Planner, started Weddings by Desiree in January 1999 after successfully completing her wedding consultant-training program through The Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants. She was awarded a Certificate of Completion and is professionally trained by this Association. She brings 9 years of experience to you as a wedding consultant. Desiree earned her B.A. Degree in Communications from San Jose State University and has also completed both Marketing Communications and Event Planning courses through the Continuing Education Department at San Jose State. 

Desiree was a Disc Jockey at San Jose State’s on campus radio station, and then decided to start her own business as a mobile disc jockey playing music for weddings, corporate and special events. She continued to learn more about music and kept everyone entertained and on the dance floor at many parties. She has worked with many brides and grooms and she feels that couples can really benefit from her experience as a former DJ and her knowledge of music. She owned her Mobile DJ Company for 7 years.

Desiree held a position as an International Sales Coordinator for a high tech publishing company prior to her wedding consultant-training course. Desiree has held positions in production, administration, and advertising sales at major radio and television stations in the Bay Area. She has also held positions in sales administration and marketing communications at several high tech firms. Her last position as an International Sales Coordinator prior to her wedding consultant-training course was for a high tech publishing company. Some of Desiree’s responsibilities consisted of corporate meeting planning, travel arrangements, tradeshow coordination and special event planning for the sales team, editors and publishers. This was her favorite and most exciting part of her job that helped her find the ACPWC training course to begin her career as a wedding consultant. She then realized that she was about to satisfy a true career path owning a business in this exciting field.

Desiree hosted a tour for the ACPWC in the year 2000 within her territory that she received many compliments for and has since developed new vendor relationships in the wedding industry. She feels that keeping up with the latest trends can only be mastered by working with the right vendors. Building a positive and professional relationship with a vendor is important to you, the bride & groom. It’s the wedding consultant and the preferred vendor she recommends that will help make your wedding day come off flawlessly and truly wonderful!

Desiree has also coordinated many church weddings at a Catholic church. She is very familiar with religious and non-religious rituals and family customs. She can recommend ceremony music, assist with reading selections and she’ll work with the priest when you are having a Wedding Mass. She has also been on the planning committees for various parish fundraisers that have been a tremendous success. 

Desiree has also coordinated ethnic weddings that you, the bride and groom, can benefit from if you are planning this unique type of wedding.

Goal & Purpose

The bride & groom hires a wedding consultant to make their life easier, to handle all the details both big and small. They also look to the consultant for support, flexibility and for expertise with planning the most important day of their lives. We will do exactly what you, the bride & groom, would like us to do. What we ask though is to let us take over and plan your wedding. 

If you want us to plan from engagement on up to and including your wedding day, then we will take over and implement our professional training and experience and fully plan and coordinate your special day. This is called our Full-Service wedding planning package. If you want to plan your wedding but need us to coordinate the details closer to and on your wedding day, we would recommend our wedding day
coordination package. We also have an A La Carte package for couples that only need a smaller amount of time coordinating their wedding. This package is more flexible and affordable and offers wedding ideas, etiquette and vendor referrals.
